The Breed
The Light Sussex is one of the most recognised exhibition breeds in Australia. Striking in the ring; clean white plumage, a distinct black neck hackle and tail markings, broad carriage, and a presence that draws the judge's eye. They are also one of the most technically demanding breeds to get right.
Conformation is everything with Light Sussex. Correct type, width of back, depth of body, and the quality of the markings are all assessed against the Australian Poultry Standards. Getting that right consistently across a breeding program takes years. Decades, if you are being honest.
Trevor selects every breeding bird himself, against the Australian Poultry Standards, with a focus on type, size, and markings that consistently win Australia's most prestigious shows. Every hatch, the program gets a little better. That's the intention.

Roger is second only to his brother Rocky. In any other company, that would make him the best Sussex in the room.
George
- Champion Soft Feather Large Male - Camden Poultry Show
- Champion Soft Feather Large Male - Goulburn Poultry Show
George was the pick of our 2023 show season. What he's gone on to produce in the breeding pen has made him one of the most valuable birds on the farm.
Elvis
- Champion Soft Feather Large - Bega Poultry Show
- First Place, Cockerel Class - Canberra Royal
- Champion Soft Feather Large Male - Dapto Poultry Show
- Grand Champion Bird of Show - 60th Annual Moruya Poultry Show
Named Elvis after a string of shows where he had a habit of stopping judges in their tracks. The judges couldn't help falling in love.

Serena
- Reserve Champion Sussex - Sydney Royal Easter. Show
One bird stood between Serena and Champion Sussex at the Sydney Royal. That bird was her brother Rocky. She went straight into the breeding pen after that. Some birds are too good to keep showing.
Whitney
- First Place, Sussex Pullet - Inaugural NSW Sussex Show
- Champion Large Soft Feather Female - Bega Poultry Show
- First Place - Canberra Royal
Beaten only by her sister at the Canberra Royal, and only just.
Taylor
- First Place, Pullet Class - Canberra Royal
- Reserve Soft Feather Large Female - Bega Poultry Show
One of the best pullets we've ever bred. We're not supposed to have favourite children on the farm. Taylor just makes it hard to remember that.
Scarlett
Scarlett was born in the middle of COVID and never made it to a show. She sold for a record amount at the time, which tells its own story.
What the Bloodlines Carry
The birds you see here don't exist in isolation. They're the visible result of a breeding program more than twenty years in the making.
Every pairing is deliberate. Every selection decision is Trevor's, guided by the Australian Poultry Standards, shaped by experience, and his own trained eye for size, strength, and type doing the rest.
We don't breed for volume. We breed for quality. That means fewer birds, more scrutiny, and better outcomes for the people who receive them.
Tier 1 exhibition birds from our Light Sussex program come with documented parentage and full breeding lineage, so you know exactly what you're acquiring and where it came from.
