The Breed

The Standard White Leghorn demands attention. Upstanding carriage. A large, well-set comb. Pure white plumage assessed against exacting Australian Poultry Standards criteria: type, station, comb quality, and overall condition all contributing to the final result.

What judges look for in a Leghorn is hard to fake and harder to breed consistently. The comb alone needs to be symmetrical, well-set, of correct size and texture. Get it wrong once, and you can lose ground that takes seasons to recover. That's not an exaggeration. It's just how this breed works.

Trevor has spent more than 20 years selecting every breeding bird himself, against the Australian Poultry Standards, with a focus on comb quality and the upstanding type that judges reward at the national level. In 2026, that program produced Champion Standard Leghorn and Champion Standard Leghorn, White at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Liza

Liza

Shown: n/a 2020

One of the most beautiful Leghorns we've bred, and easily one of Trev's all-time favourites. COVID hit right when she was in her prime, so she never saw a show. A shame the judges never got to meet her.

What the Bloodlines Carry

Standard White Leghorns are unforgiving. There's nowhere to hide on a white bird in good condition under a show pavilion's lights. What you see on the show bench is the direct product of what happened in the breeding pen.

We prioritise comb quality, station, type, and the structural soundness that supports a bird that competes consistently, not just once.

We don't breed for volume. We breed for quality. Fewer birds, more scrutiny, better outcomes for the people who receive them.

Tier 1 exhibition birds from our White Leghorn program come with documented parentage and full breeding lineage, so you know exactly what you're acquiring and where it came from.
